Professional Experience

João Pedro Varandas has a vast professional experience in advising companies and individuals within his main areas of practice, namely Real Estate Law, Finance and Corproate Law.

Throughout the years, João Pedro Varandas has actively engaged in several transactions, namely real estate development projects, real estate investments and sales (corporate real estate), real estate contracts and licensing proceedings. He has also advised banks and financial institutions within real estate financing and restructuring. He has been involved in the creation of several real estate investment funds, advising both participants and management entities.

At the same time, he has actively been also engaged in mergers in acquisitions transactions in several economic sectors – both nationally and internationally – as well as incorporations and restructuring proceedings of companies and multinationals, advising both Portuguese and international clients.

More recently, in addition to the legal advise granted in Real Estate and Finance Law matters, João Pedro Varandas has also provided legal advices to board of directors of several companies in relation with both corporate governance and internationalization projects, namely in Brazil due to his expertise in this country.

João Pedro Varandas began his career in 2000, as a trainee lawyer of the law firm PLMJ – Sociedade de Advogados, R.L., having worked in Commercial, Companies and Mergers and Acquisitions practice areas. Later on, he joined the law firm, as an associate. In 2003, João Pedro Varandas was invited to integrate KF Group as legal advisor, where he has set-up several international investments transactions.

In between 2005 and 2007, he joined Sérvulo Correia & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, R.L., as an associate, pertaining to the Real Estate and Planning practice area.

In between 2007 and 2009, he joined Vieira de Almeida & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, R.L., as an associate, pertaining to the Real Estate and Planning practice area.

In between 2009 and 2013, he joined ABBC – Azevedo Neves, Benjamim Mendes, Carvalho & Associados – Sociedade de Advogados, R.L. (DLA Piper focus firm), as an senior associate, pertaining to the Real Estate, Finance and Projects practice area.

As of 2013, João Pedro Varandas is a founding partner of Rogério Alves & Associados – Sociedade de Advogados, R.L., being in co-charge of the Business Law practise area, and in charge of the Real Estate and Finance Law practice area of the law firm.
